A university with a proud tradition

On 19 September 1899 the Austrian Emperor and Hungarian King Franz Joseph 1 signed a decree bringing into existence a Czech technical university in Brno.This was the first Czech higher education institution in Moravia.

It became an important centre of teaching and research, greatly enriching the life of Czech society, a role that it has continued to play down to the present.When it opened, the university had with four professors and forty-seven students. In the course of more than 110 years is has matured into an internationally recognized institution offering a cutting-edge education based on the latest scientific and professional knowledge delivered at eight faculties and Institute of Forensic Engineering covering a broad spectrum of fields ranging from technical and scientific disciplines through economics to the arts.

World university ranking

According to the Quacquarelli Symonds Limited (QS) prestigious world university rankings, BUT has been among the best universities of the world for several years in succession.

Prestigious ECTS and DS labels

For the period 2009–2016 the Brno University of Technology has been awarded the European Commission’s prestigious ECTS and DS Label certificates, issued in recognition of quality higher education. 

BUT was one of only two Czech universities to be granted the ECTS Label. This label recognizes the proper introduction of the European credit system in all Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in line with the implementation of the aims of the Bologna Process. BUT was awarded the DS Label in recognition of the proper provision of the Diploma Supplement to all its graduates free of charge. Both certificates are proof that BUT meets the demanding criteria of the European Union in the area of higher education; in addition, they make a major contribution towards broadening mobility and increasing the internationalization of the university.

Brief description

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) is the first foundation university in Izmir and in Aegean region and was established in 2001 by Izmir Chamber of Commerce Education and Health Foundation in accordance with the provisions of Turkish Republic Constitution, Law No: 2547, Higher Education Law and Regulations about Foundation Higher Education Institutions. IUE aims to nurture individuals who are creative and entrepreneurial, dedicated and wholly committed to Ataturk’s principles and reforms. IUE currently has 8 Faculties, 2 Schools, 3 Vocational Schools, 4 Graduate Schools, and 10 Research and Application Centers. These academic units offer 30 associate degree programs, 34 bachelor degree programs, 43 master programs, and 9 Ph.D. programs. IUE has Erasmus+ agreements with 175 universities in 26 countries and has academic cooperation protocol with 40 universities abroad as of January 2019.

University of Ljubljana – School of Economics and Business was established in 1946 and is today the biggest higher education and research institution in the field of business and economics in Slovenia with the largest centre for executive education within a university setting. It is the only school in the wider region to have been awarded the EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA international accreditations.
The University of Ljubljana – School of Economics and Business provides education at all levels – undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, executive and lifelong learning in key areas of specialisation. Almost all of the programmers are offered beside in Slovenian also in English aimed at an international audience and strong international network with institutions worldwide.

Brief description

Dokuz Eylul University (DEU) is a state university, founded in 1982, with over 80,000 students in Izmir, Turkey. It is a university engaged in teaching and research activities in the fields of medicine, real life sciences, natural sciences and social sciences. It offers short cycle, first cycle, second cycle and third cycle degrees, and has been awarded the ECTS and DS labels. Dokuz Eylül Technology Development Zone (DEPARK),  Turkey’s first Health Themed Technopark, DEU Health Innovation Campus,  DEU-İzmir International Biomedicine and Genome Institute, DEU-BioIzmir Health Technologies’ Accelerator, BAMBU Pre-Incubation Centre and Accelerator Programme, DEU Technology Transfer Office (DETTO) create, accelerate and develop an ecosystem for entrepreneur candidates and researchers offering incubation services, incubations, reseacrh facilities, laboratories as part of DEU establishments.

Faculty of Business of Dokuz Eylül University was established in 1992 with the purpose of providing education in English in the departments of Business Administration (1988), International Business and Trade (2008), Economics (1992) Tourism Management (1992) and International Relations (1992). It aims to to contribute to the discovery and development of individuals and societal potential through its value adding education approach and research.

More than 1750  students are taught by faculty members who received their masters and Ph.D. degrees from prominent universities of North America, Europe, Asia and Turkey. Faculty members also take part in many national and international research projects funded by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) and the EU.

Faculty of Business has 57  agreements within the Erasmus + Scheme and  13  Academic Collaboration Protocols with China, South Korea  and  Russia for  student exchanges as well as short term staff exchanges. Since  2017, Faculty of Business has also started a duel DUAL diploma program with State University of New York  – Albany campus.

In addition, Faculty of Business has been organizing an International Week in the first week of May every year since 2007. Approximately 30 academicians from various European universities participate this week every year. The International Week is organized in a festival mood and give the students the chance to internationalize at home by joining the lectures of international academicians.

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, also known as VGTU, is a public university in Vilnius, Lithuania. Founded on 1 September 1956, the university was first a Vilnius-based evening division of the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute. It currently has 10 faculties,  research institutes, 33 research laboratories, and 2 research and 4 training centers.
